2.0 Twitter
So the question for this post is "Armed with a bit of knowledge about what Twitter is all about, share your thoughts on this fast growing online phenomenon." OK so it is not really a question but I'll share my thoughts anyway. So to be honest it is not something that I would ever use. While I don't mind getting the occasional text I really don't need to be getting updates every five seconds. If there is something I want an update on it is easy enough to look up without having to get tweets all the time. That being said I could see that it might be good for a company to connect with it's employees if they do not work in the same location. All in all I think that it is mostly used by people to simply say random things about their day. It can be used creatively but most of the stuff on there is gossip and I don't really feel that people need another way to gossip. Sorry about the negativity. See you next post.

2.0 Library Thing
I'm jumping right into the question this week. "Was the site user-friendly? Did you find it difficult to navigate?" The site was pretty user-friendly. I had no real issues trying to navigate it and the tour gave a decent rundown of the services offered. It seems like a really good site if you are interested in reading or posting reviews on books. It is also a great way to find new books to read. I'm keeping this post short so that's all for now.

2.0 Online Productivity Tools
So the question for this assignment is "Do you see free online tools like these eventually replacing expensive software like MS Office?" The "these" that the question is referencing to are things like Google Calendar and Google Docs. I think they both have there place. With MS Office and other programs that you pay for the reason that you pay for them is that they have lots of helpful extras and that they interact well with most systems. Free programs have become more prominent over the years but I think the paid ones will probably always be one step ahead since they have companies funding the research. Both will be around for years to come. See you next post.
2.0 Flickr' and YouTube
Hello again. I'm still trying to get caught up with all these assignments so I'll keep this brief. Both YouTube and Flickr' are very user-friendly. They are setup so that everyone can easily use the basic functions and if you are bit more adventurous they have tours and help links that teach you everything you need to know. For those of you that don't know Flickr' is a photo editor and way to share your photos online with different groups both private and public. YouTube is a way to share different videos online. You can search through both to find what you like or publish your own stuff. OK that's it for now. On to the next assignment.

RSS 2.0
Right so I'm a bit behind on all these blog assignments so I'll make this a short post. The questions for this assignment was "Were you able to successfully set up your RSS feed? If not, where did you run into problems? If you were successful, does this make information-gathering more convenient for you?" Yes I was able to set up a feed. I choose the urban myth one. It's pretty interesting but not really needful. More fun than information gathering. As for the convenience it is just as simple to simply google something when you want it. So I wouldn't use the program to gather information but more as a way to have fun every day. Ok see you next post.

Google extras 2.0
So this week our task was to look at different google products. Meaning that we look at what google has to offer other than just simple searching. The questions we are supposed to answer this week are, "What do you like about the Google product? What do you dislike? Would you recommend the product to friends and colleagues?" So I tried a few different products and the main problem that I found was that for a lot of them you have to give personal information in order to access the service. There are other programs like google earth that don't require any extra information but they do require that you download the program which can take some time if you don't have a fast internet connection. What I like is that google does offer all these different kinds of products. It's not just all about searching, though google does provide lots of different search options. All in all most of the programs, though interesting, are not things you would use on daily basis. There are some I would recommend like google earth but most are not really needed. Ok so that's all I have to say this week. Have a happy Earth Day.

Facebook or Crackbook 2.0 Week 4
Well we are on the fourth week already and on to a topic that is perhaps one of my favorite time-wasters. Ah facebook what would we students do without you. After all there is no better way to procrastinate than go online and chat with friends, post on their walls, see what they are up to, reconnect with old school mates, or just play one of thousands of different games. Of course you can upload all your photos and videos and continually updated your status so everyone knows what you are doing all the time. So with all these things to do the question is "For you, is Facebook useful or a time-waster?" My answer is yes. Facebook is a useful time-waster. That may be a contradiction but it's true. Sometimes you need to do something to decompress and relieve stress and that is facebook. It is also a great way to connect with people and do things. You can find all sorts of like minded people who share your beliefs and others who don't. You can even have debates online. Facebook is also great for group projects when you are in University because it is rare that everyone can meet so by starting a group on facebook you can all share your ideas and read everyone else's when you have free time, i.e. middle of the night just before your hopefully three hours of sleep and with the deadline five hours away. All in all facebook is mostly for fun. Here is a song demonstrating all the wonderful/not so wonderful things about facebook. Just click on the link to enjoy or if that doesn't work copy and paste it into the address bar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b-fJxzpK7s OK that's is it for now. See you next post.
